Task C - Apparatus technology
Task C will deal with the apparatus technology of thermally driven heat pumps and will bring together the broad field of ongoing developments of materials and apparatuses. Even for differing technologies like absorption and adsorption some parts of the apparatus are exposed to the same problems (vacuum, corrosion, evaporator/ condenser efficiency etc.). The aim of this task is to identify the overlap between different technologies and to make synergies possible.
As a basis for well – founded research on the apparatus, properties of materials and working pair will be collected and brought together in a database.
WP 1 - Methodology Characterization
A lot of working
groups are dealing with characterization of thermo - physical
properties (heat capacity, conductivity, heat transfer resistance,
diffusion coefficients, etc.) and equilibrium properties of sorption
working pairs.
The aim of this working group will be the definition of standards
for estimation of the mentioned values and the cross - comparison of
samples in different labs.
WP 2 - Database
The database will include available and
upcoming materials, available working pairs and as far as possible
their material properties, as mentioned in WP1. Additionally the
producers of these materials will be collected.
The database will also include an overview about the different
labs and their experimental expertise and capacity. Further items and
the accessibility of the database will be discussed in the workgroup.
WP 3 - Stability
The long term stability of some thermally
driven systems is still under development. The aim of WP3 will be the
identification of factors influencing the long term stability (like
corrosion, inert gases, leakage, tightness, fatigue) by experimental
methods (gas analytic, etc.), the definition of accelerated aging for
different technologies and the evaluation of methods for keeping the
long term stability.
WP 4 - Development of components
WP4 is focused on the
development of apparatus components. A literature research will give a
survey of the market available components (evaporator, condenser, ad-
and absorber, auxiliary components like controller, etc.) and the
actual topics in research and development for the different
technologies.
For identification of synergies the overlap between work pairs and
technologies will be discussed and conducted. The results of national
projects on component development will be reported.
Task C - deliverables
-
A technical report which provides an overview on the different technologies including their potentials and limits
-
A description of a standard to determine sorption material properties
-
An online database about sorption materials and their properties, material sources and experimental expertise of different labs for heat pumps.
